Assessing the Relationship between Freshwater Flux and Sea Surface Salinity

Exploring the relationship between evaporation (E)-minus-precipitation (P) and sea surface salinity (SSS) is vital for understanding global hydrological cycle changes investigating budget. This study quantifies uncertainty in E−P SSS based on satellite data over 50°S–50°N ocean from 2012 to 2017 140 sets of combinations E, P SSS. We find that (10%) variability freshwater flux (FWF) 2012–2017 smaller than (15%). The difference combination “E-P-SSS” products can lead 10% RMSD 25% area-weighted mean correlation coefficients tendency FWF. There a 24.1~58% area with significant (p value < 0.05) positive FWF derived products. seasonal EMP tendencies show larger lower RMSDs most compared those nonseasonal time scales. Large FWF-SSS relation associated spread among prevents use one satellite-based budget analysis.
